The waxed canvas is thick & substantial but soft & flexible with a waterproof liner. I was nervous about the price but now I see that it should last for decades. It’s that nice. I got the grey with 3 interior pockets, outer zipper & had it monogrammed. I’m very happy about the purchase.

Modern Keepsakes - I make bags that hold memories of love.
As a designer and a maker, I pour my love for my craft into every single bag I create and I share that love with my customers and the end recipients of my products. It's a chain reaction of passing down love.
As a business centered around personalized products that are usually gifted at special occasions, my motivation to keep on going in spite of having to face daily adversity and challenges is the knowledge that I help my customers create sentimental memories that get woven into the fabric of their life's stories. I always picture the smiling face of the recipient when they open the gift box containing their monogrammed gift and the warm hug of gratitude that comes after. And that vision is all I need to shift to a positive and productive mindset.
Growing up in Bulgaria, a communist republic at the time, taught me how to be imaginative and creative with very limited resources. There was scarcity. My grandparents had to stand in line for hours for a loaf of bread and a liter of watered-down milk. Every piece of clothing had to last for years and every hole in it had to be mended. We did not throw away anything. We repurposed, we passed down, and we made ourselves what we couldn’t afford to buy. I got to wear my mom's clothes and my younger cousins got to wear my clothes.
I moved to the United States at the age of 21 and opened my Etsy shop at the age of 26. My upbringing played a huge role in how I conceptualized the design of my products. The concept was simple - quality over quantity, slow fashion, bring back pride in the process. My mantra became: Make things that last. Make things that have meaning. Make things that can be passed down the generations. Make things that hold memories of love...
...And make them with love and passion enrolling people and factories that share the same values.

In first grade and in a drawing class, I was drawing sketches of models in fashion clothes. My teacher asked me: “So, Silvia, what will you be when you grow up?” I simply pointed towards my drawings and said: “A fashion designer.”
