All our jewelry are plated jewelry not made of solid pure gold and here are some tips on how to take care and extend the life of plated jewelry .

1. Wash your hands before putting on or taking off plated jewelry.
2. Put on plated jewelry after you’ve applied your perfume, lotion, hair spray or makeup
3. Keep plated jewelry away from water. Don’t shower, bath or swim etc while wearing your plated jewelry
4. Don’t wear your plated jewelry while working out or sweating profusely
5. Avoid rubbing plated jewelry against each other or tough surfaces.
6. Store your gold plated jewelry in a pouch or soft cloth separate from other jewelry

All jewelry tarnish over time unless it is made of pure solid gold. Jewelry tarnish is caused when the surface of the metal comes into contact with body oils, makeup, lotion, water, sweat, perfumes, hair spray, lotions etc and other external substances. Any substance that isn’t PH neutral can potentially affect your plated jewelry even one’s own body chemistry. Some people are more acidic and sweat more than others. Tarnish varies from looking slightly dull or totally black, depending on the metal and how you wear your jewelry. It’s not uncommon for chemicals perspired through the pores of the skin to cause plated jewelry to tarnish/discolor.
